In January 2023, Meet and Greet collaborated with Rete Clima to offset emissions from their 2022 tours by supporting two projects in India and Brazil.
The carbon offset project VCS 1230 - Solar Photovoltaic Power Project at Jalgaon, Maharashtra, in India aims to generate clean electricity through the exploitation of solar energy. The project aims to reduce the dependence on fossil fuels, helping to avoid significant amounts of emissions of air pollutants with public health impacts such as SOx, NOx and suspended particulate matter (SPM).
The VCS 1382 - The Envira Amazonia Project in Brazil, which focuses on an area of 39,000 hectares of tropical forest, generates an average reduction of 1,259,646 tons of CO2 emissions per year over a period of 30 years from 2012 to 2042. The project helps to protect the critical habitat for endangered wildlife and in particular protects the presence of at least four endemic plants of the IUCN Red List of threatened species: acreana, odorata, longistipulata and macrophylla.
Both carbon offset projects supported by Meet and Greet participate in the VCS Program (Verified Carbon Standard) - Verra.
During the spring of 2023, with the support and supervision of Rete Clima, Meet and Greet Srl was involved in different forestation activities.
During the first reforestation that took place in March 2023 at Vesuvius National Park (NA), Meet and Greet Srl planted 75 trees and shrubs. The species that were planted belong to the typical Mediterranean maquis, which usually presents itself with a high floristic biodiversity: the tree layer consists mainly of Holm Oak (Quercus ilex), associated with other deciduous plants (Downy Oak, Terebinthus, Judas Tree, Dogwood), while there are numerous shrub species (Phillyrea, Myrtle, Arbutus, Laurel, Viburnum, Alaternus, Lentisk, Cistus, several Brooms).
In April 2023 Meet and Greet chose to collaborate with Rete Clima supporting a new forestry activity that includes the planting of 75 trees at the Regional Urban Park of Aguzzano, in the north-east of Rome. The plants - among trees and shrubs - that have been planted, will generate benefits for the environment, for the climate but also for citizens, thus restoring value to the community that increasingly needs renaturalization activities.
The forestation activities carried out by Meet and Greet Srl are part of Foresta Italia, the Climate Network's National Forestation Campaign that launched in spring 2022.
The collaboration between Meet and Greet and Rete Clima continues in 2024.
In July 2024, Meet and Greet supported the carbon offset project VCS 1792 - Ghani Solar Renewable Power Project by Greenko Group in India that aims to generate a clean form of electricity by harnessing solar energy. The project activity involves the installation of a 500 MW solar power project in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
